Modern History of Latin Peoples

Latin peoples continued to be important throughout modern history, and there were numerous European Continental developments. Italic peoples did not have an Atlantic coast, and were eclipsed by the other Latin peoples. French peoples expanded in parallel with the Portuguese and Hispanic peoples. Hispanic peoples also extended to the newly discovered New World. Lusitanic peoples extended beyond Europe as Portugal began to establish an overseas empire in Africa, in parts of Asia, and in what is now Brazil.

   

Modern History

Italic peoples, French peoples, Hispanic peoples, and Lusitanic peoples can be considered.

16th century

The latin peoples had an early start at world prominence in the Italy was divided. France was divided by the Protestant reformation, but began explorations of North America. Among Hispanic peoples, Spain became the richest, most powerful country in Europe as it began to plunder the treasures of the Aztec and Inca Empires. The Aztec city of Tenochtitlan was destroyed by the Spanish and refounded as Mexico City. Mexico was conquered and colonized by the Spanish. Colombia was colonized by the Spanish. The Inca empire of Peru fell with astonishing ease to Spanish conquerers. The Argentine region was was also settled. Among Lusitanic peoples, Brazil began to be colonized. I do not yet have many details for the earhly 16th century, early mid 16th century, mid 16th century, late-mid 16th century, or late 16th century.

17th century

Among Hispanic peoples, the empire controlled by Spain was at its height. Hispanic Mexican American colonties such as those of Mexico and guatemala continued to grow. Hispanic Colombian American colonies of Colombia, Venezuela, and Ecuador also prospered. Colonies such as those of Colombia continued to grow. Hispanic Peruvian American colonies such as those of Peru and Chile grew. Hispanic Argentine American colonies including Argentina also grew. Among Lusitanic peoples, Brazil with its city of Sao Paolo remained a colony of Portugal. France began a colonization program in North America. I have little information on Italy during this period. I do not yet have many details of the early 17th century, early mid 17th century, mid 17th century, or late-mid 17th century. In the late 17th century. Brazil was a Portuguese colony.

18th century

Latin peoples developed in the 18th century. Among Italic peoples, Italy was disunited. Among French peoples, France was a major world power. Among Hispanic peoples, Spain controlled a large empire. Hispanic Mexican American peoples, Hispanic Colombian American peoples, Hispanic Peruvian American peoples, and Hispanic Argentine American peoples can be considered. Lusitanic peoples including Portugal and colonies such as Brazil were important.

In the early 18th century, Brazil was a colony of Portugal. I do not yet have details of the early 1700s, late 1700s, early 1710s, or late 1710s. In the early mid 18th century, Brazil remained a colony of Portugal. I do not yet have details of the early 1720s, late 1720s, early 1730s, or late 1730s. In the mid 18th century, Brazil remained a colony of Portugal. I do not yet have details of the early 1740s, the late 1740s, the early 1750s, or late 1750s. In the late-mid 18th century, Brazil remained a colony of Portugal. I do not yet have details of the early 1760s, late 1760s, early 1770s, or late 1770s. In the late 18th century, Brazil remained a colony of Portugal. I do not yet have details of the early 1780s, late 1780s, early 1790s, or late 1790s.

19th century

Italian peoples became unified. The Napoleonic wars begin by France were important in the century, The French began to lose some of their colonial empire, but expanded in other areas. Spain was conquered by the Frenche and began to lose much of its colonial empire. Most of the Hispanic Mexican American peoples, the Hispanic Colombian American peoples, the Hispanic Peruvian American peoples, and the Hispanic Argentine American peoples gained their independence. Among Lusitanic peoples, Portugal was conquered by France and the Royal family established a branch in Brazil, but Portugal regained its independence, and the royal family in Brazil was overthrown and Brazil became independent of Portugal.

In the early 19th century, in Mexico, various revolutionary movements had begun. Among Lusitanic peoples, the Portuguese royal family fled to Brazil to escape the Napoleonic wars. I do not yet hve details of the early 1800s, late 1800s, early 1810s, or late 1810s. In the early-mid 19th century, Mexico gained its independence. Among Lusitanic peoples, the Portuguese royal family returned to Portugal, but part stayed to rule Brazil. I do not yet have details of the early 1820s, late 1820s, early 1830s, or late 1830s. For the mid 19th century, Mexico lost a large part of its northern territory in the US-Mexican war. Mexico City was briefly occupied. Among Lusitanic peoples, I have few details of Brazil. I do not have specific details of the early 1840s, the late 1840s, early 1850s, or late 1850s. In the late-mid 19th century, in Mexico, the French attempted to establish a monarchy but were defeated. I do not yet have specific details of the early 1860s, late 1860s, early 1870s, or late 1870s. Among Lusitanic peoples, I have few details on Brazil. In the late 19th century, Mexico City was important. Among Hispanic peoples, the government of Mexico was hard and dictatorial. Among Lusitanic peoples, in Brazil, the slaves were emancipated, the emperor overthown, and a new republican-style government was created. I do not have specific details of the early 1880s, late 1880s, early 1980s, or late 1890s.

20th century

Italic peoples including Italy were still significant, and French peoples including France were among the most prominent. Hispanic peoples were geneally less involved in world affairs. Spain, Hispanic Mexican America, Hispanic Colombian America, Hispanic Peruvian America, and Hispanic Argentine America have been important. Lusitanic peoples also seem to have been peripherally important.

In the early 20th century, some of these suffered major miltary defeats. Mexico was involved in the Mexican revolution. Mexico City and Sao Paulo were importnt cities. For Lusitanic peoples including those of Brazil, there was some minor participation in World War I. I do not have details of the early 1900s, late 1900s, early 1910s, or late 1910s. They also suffered during the depression of the early mid 20th century. Mexico was caught up in social and economic reform. Events and Mexico City are somewhat obscure. Sao Paolo has not yet been closely examined. Among Lusitanic peoples, Events of Brazil are somewhat obscure. I do not yet have details of events in the early 1920s, late 1920s, early 1930s, or late 1930s. Some of them were affected by WWII in the mid 20th century. Events of Brazil I don't have many details on Mexico. Mexico City and Sao Paolo are somewhat obscure. I lack details of the early 1940s, late 1940s, early 1950s, and late 1950s.

Late-mid 20th century

Events of Italy and cities such as Sao Paolo are somewhat obscure. Among French peoples, France can be considered. Among Hispanic peoples, Mexico suffered considerable economic instability. Cities include Mexico City. Among Lusitanic peoples, Brazil was dominated by a military government. I lack details on the early 1960s including 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, and 1965. I also lack details of the late 1960s including 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969, and 1970. The early 1970s among Lusitanic peoples can be considered, but I do not yet have many details for 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, or 1975. In the late 1970s, among Lusitanic peoples in Brazil Ernesto Geisel began moving toward civilian government and chose Joao Figueiredo as his successor. I do not yet have details of 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, or 1980.

Late 20th century

Italic peoples including Italy can be connected. French peoples including those of France are important. Hispanic peoples including Spain, Hispanic Mexican American peoples, Hispanic Colombian American peoples, Hispanic Peruvian American peoples, and Hispanic Argentine American peoples can be connected. Lusitanic peoples including Portugal and Brazil can be connected.

In the early 1980s I do not yet have many details of Hispanic peoples. Among Lusitanic peoples, in Brazil, the military government led by Figuieredo ruled with decreasing efficiency, and an electoral collage selected Tancredo Neves as the next president. He died before taking office. I do not yet have details of 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, or 1985. In the late 1980s. I do not yet have many details among Italic peoples, French peoples or Hispanic peoples including Hispanic Mexican American peoples. Among Lusitanic peoples, in Brazil Neves' elected vice president Jose Sarney headed a civilian government. Fernando Collor de Mello became the first popularly elected president in decades. I do not yet yave details of 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, or 1990. In the early 1990s I do not yet have many details of Italic peoples, French peoples, or Hispanic peoples including Hispanic Mexican American peoples of Mexico or Hispanic Colombian American peoples. Among Lusitanic peoples in Brazil, President Collor was impeached and removed from office, and Henrique Cardoso was elected president. I do not yet have other details of 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, or 1995. In the late 1990s, I do not yet have many details of Italic peoples, French peoples. Hispanic peoples including Hispanic Mexican American peoples and Hispanic Colombian American peoples. Among Lusitanic peoples, Henrique Cardoso was re-elected president of Brazil. I do not have other details of 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, or 2000.

Early 21st century

This has connections to Italic peoples of Italy, French peoples of France, and Hispanic peoples such as those of Spain, Hispanic Mexican American peoples, Hispanic Colombian American peoples, Hispanic Peruvian American peoples , Hispanic Argentine peoples including Argentina and Lusitanic people including Portugal and Brazil.

Late 2000s

For 2006 I do not yet have sumary of Brazil during the 1st quarter, 2nd quarter, 3rd quarter, and 4th quarter.

Recent events of 2007 can be examined. These include those of the 1st quarter and 2nd quarter including April, May, and June.

The 3rd quarter also has information on recent events.

This includes events of July and August. In September, events in Brazil included removal of the President of the Senate on corruption charges and improvement of the stock market. Events in Mexico involved several disasters. In France, there was concern over Iran's nuclear program, events in Sudan, and a merger which would privatize the state gas industry.

The 4th quarter including events of Brazil, Mexico, France, Italy, Colombia, Spain, and Argentina can be examined. During October I have no reported events in Brazil, and for Mexico, only the evacuation of workeers from an oil rig during a storm in the Gulf of Mexico. In France, there was a two day strike by transit workers, and a visit by President Nicolai Sarcozy to Russia. During November, in Brazil notable events included the crash of a Lear jet into a residential neighborhood and a stadium collapse. In the Tabasco region of southern Mexico, there was extensive flooding. In France, there was strike by Transit workers tht lasted about 10 days, and an incident where police were attacked in a riot. Events in Italy included clashes with police and sports fans, arrests of Mafia figures, and organization of a new political party by former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. December has not yet progressed enough to list many events except in Brazil.

In 2008, I am considering Italy and cities such as Sao Paolo, French peoples including France, Hispanic peoples including Mexico and cities including Mexico City, and Lusitanic peoples including Brazil. I do not yet have summaries for the first quarter or the second quarter 2008including Brazil during April, May, and June, or the third quarter 2008including Mexico, Mexico City, Sao Paulo, and Lusitanic peoples including Brazil during July. For August I do not yet have events recorded for Mexico or Mexico City or for Lusitanic peoples including Brazil. For September I have few events recorded yet for Mexico, none for Mexico City and none for Lusitanic peoples including Brazil. So far I have few events for the fourth quarter in Mexico and in Lusitanic peoples including Brazil, or for Latin cities including Mexico City and Sao Paolo

On Nov 3, Itaú and Unibanco announced they would merge their banking, credit, and insurance operations, creating the largest financial services group in Brazil and the Southern Hemisphere.
