Twentieth Century applied to Sociology

Examination of the early 20th century, early-mid 20th century, mid 20th century, late-mid 20th century, late 20th century, and early 21st century gives a progressive overview of the development of sociology in modern times.

   

20th Century

Study of sociology has accelerated in the 20th century, though few details are yet available on this site. Study of peoples continued. Western Civilization began to lose its political domination over the rest of the world, but continued to exert vast cultural influence. Asiatic peoples began to adopt elements of Western culture. African peoples regained their political independence. American Indian peoples seemed to have little influence. Various communities were important. Various theoretical developments in social structure and change took place.

Early 20th century

The early 20th century was marked by the Great War, or World War I. I have some information on peoples including Western Civilization, Asiatic peoples, African peoples, and American Indian peoples, communities, and social structure and change. I do not yet have details of the early 1900s, late 1900s, early 1910s, or late 1910s.

Early-mid 20th century

In the early-mid 20th century, Peoples of the world including Western Civilization, Asiatic peoples, African peoples, and American Indian peoples can be considered. I do not have specific information on communities at present. Social change, social types, and social structure can be examined. There were substantial discoveries and new theories in anthropology and sociology, but at the same time, radio and the automobile were beginning to transform society. The early 1920s do not yet have specific detail. The late 1920s are connected to peoples. The early 1930s are connected to peoples including nations. The late 1930s are connected to peoples including nations.

Mid 20th century

In the mid 20th century, Western Civilization, Asiatic peoples, African peoples, and American Indian peoples can be considered. World War II and the Cold War brought about new awareness and respect for non-Western peoples, and a decolonization movement began. I do not yet have specific information about communities, or about social structure and change including social change, social types, or social structure. Late-mid 20th Century

In the late-mid 20th century, studies of sociology broadened in scope and sophistication and awareness of non-western perspectives. Peoples including Western Civilization, Asiatic peoples, African, and American Indian peoples can be considered. There is significant attention given to communities and to social structure, social types, and social change. The early 1960s are connected to communities and peoples including Western Civilization and Asiatic peoples. I do not yet have details for 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, or 1965. The late 1960s are connected to peoples including Western Civilization and Asiatic peoples and to communities. I do not yet have details for 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969, or 1970. In the early 1970s, peoples including Western Civilization, Asiatic peoples, African peoples, and American Indian peoples are being considered. Communities and social structure and change are also connected. 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, and 1975 can be connected. In the late 1970s, peoples including nations, Western Civilization, Asiatic peoples, and American Indian peoples can be considered. Late 20th Century

The late 20th century is difficult to describe. The Cold War ended with the collapse of the Soviet Union, but by this time, signs of a decline in Western civilization were appearing. Asiatic powers were increasingly influential, and a wave of militant Islamic movements appeared. African peoples remained comparatively poor and plagued by unstable or incompetent governments. I have little information on American Indian peoples. Cities can be considered. In studies of social structure and change, the increasing disappearance of many distinctive languages and hunting and gathering cultures was noted.

In the early 1980s peoples of the world including Western Civilization, Asiatic peoples, African peoples, and American Indian peoples can be considered. The apparent renewal of the Cold War, and the renewal of Islamic nationalism had important effects. Communities and social structure and change, with social change can be connected. 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, and 1985 can be connected.

The late 1980s can be connected to peoples of the world including Western Civilization, Asiatic peoples, African peoples, and American Indians. The increasing liberalization of the USSR had significant events. It can also be connected to communities and to social structure and change with social change. The early post-Cold-War era showed an increased concern with developments in Asia. There are connections to communities and to social structure, social types, and social change. For 1996 this study is just beginning with peoples of the world including nations, and communities. For 1998, this study is beginning with social structure and change, communities, and peoples of the world including nations. For 1999, study is beginning with social structure and change, communities, peoples of the world including nations. Western Civilization was important. For 2000, study includes social structure and change including social change, communities, and peoples of the world including nations, with Western civilization and Asiatic peoples.

Early 21st century

Events and discussions of the early 21st century can also be examined. Western civilization seems to be in some decline, while Asiatic peoples are progressing in prominence and influence. African peoples are troubled, and American Indian peoples are still submerged. Some communities and some elements of social change, social types, and social structure are being examined. The early 2000s, the late 2000s, and the early 2010s can be considered.
