Ukraine is one of the 30 most populous countries in the world.

History

Prehistory

Early prehistory including the Pliocene, early Pleistocene, early mid Pleistocene, late mid Pleistocene, and late Pliestocne is poorly known. Middle prehistory including the period beginning 50,000 years ago, the period beginning 40,000 years ago, the period beginning 30,000 years ago, and the period beginning 20,000 years ago is poorly known. Late prehistory including the early 8th millennium BC, the late 8th millennium BC, the early 7th millennium BC, the early 6th millennium BC, and the late 6th millennium BC can be connected.

Antiquity

The 5th millennium BC is not yet well known. I do not yet have details of the early 5th millennium BC, or the early mid 5th millennium BC. In about the mid 5th millenium BC, the Neolithic Cucuteni-Trypillian culture seems to have originated. I have no more details of the late mid 5th millennium BC, or the late 5th millennium BC. The 4th millennium BC can be connected. I do not yet have details of the early 4th millennium BC, the early mid 4th millennium BC, the mid 4th millennium BC, the late mid 4th millennium BC, or the late 4th millennium BC. In the 3rd millennium BC, the catacomb culture is known. I do not yet have details of the early 3rd millennium BC, the early mid 3rd millennium BC, the mid 3rd millennium BC, the late mid 3rd millennium BC, or the late 3rd millennium BC.

In the 2nd millenium BC, Cimmerians, Scythians, and Sarmatians are known to have lived in the area. I do not have details of the early 2nd millennium BC, the early mid 2nd millennium BC, the mid 2nd millennium BC, the late mid 2nd millennium BC, or the late 2nd millennium BC. Greek speaking peoples began to colonize it the early 1st millennum BC. I do not yet have details for the 10th century CE, the 9th century CE, the 8th century CE, the 7th century CE, or the 6th century CE.

Classical and medieval history

In the early classical period it was part of the Scythian kingdom, and colonized by Greeks. I do not have details of the 5th century BC, the 4th century BC, the 3rd century BC, the 2nd century BC, or the 1st century BC. In the late classic period, the Romans established various settlements in this period. Possibly the Huns were in this region. I do not yet have details for the 1st century CE, the 2nd century CE, the 3rd century CE, the 4th century CE, or the 5th century CE. In the early medieval period, in the 6th century CE, Slavic tribes began to occupy the area. In the 7th century CE, the region was occupied by the Bulgars. In the 8th century CE, it was occupied by the Khazars. In the 9th century, the Khazars converted to Judaism. The Varangian peoples of Nogorod conquered Kiev and established a capital there. In the 10th century, the Kievan Rus expanded and conquered the Khazars. In the late medieval period, the developments are complex. In the 11th century it was mostly ruled by the Kievan state, and in the 12th century the Kievan state was in decline. In the 13th century it was invaded and conquered by the Mongols, who were also called the Tatars. In the 14th century, it came under the rule of Poland and Lithuania. In the 15th century it was ruled by Poles and Lithuanians.

Modern history

During the 16th century, in the early 16th, early mid 16th century, and mid 16th century most of Ukraine was part of the kingdom of Poland. In the late-mid 16th century and late 16th century it was part of the commonwealth of Poland-Latvia. More information is available from the the 17th century. In the early 17th and early-mid 17th century, the Cossacks began to emerge as a warlike group. In the mid 17th century they fought for independence against the Polish kingdom, and with the Russians and Ottomans. In the late-mid 17th century, their territory was divided between the Kingdom of Poland and Russia. I have few details on the late 17th century. In the 18th century, I lack details on the early 18th century, early-mid 18th century, or mid 18th century, In the late-mid 18th century and the late 18th century, the Polish kingdom was partitioned. Most of Ukraine came into Russian hands. although some parts were in the Austrian-Hungarian empire.

In the 19th century, most of it was in the Russian empire, but parts belonged to the Austran-Hungarian empire. I have no details for the early 19th century. I have no details for the early mid 19th century including the early 1820s, late 1820s, early 1830s, or late 1830s. In the mid 19th century, the Crimean war was fought in what is now Ukraine. I do not yet have details for the early 1840s, late 1840s, early 1850s, or late 1850s. I have no more details for the the late-mid 19th century including the early 1860s, late 1860s, early 1870s, or late 1870s. I have no details of the late 19th century including the early 1880s, late 1880s, early 1890s, or late 1890s.

20th century

In the early 20th century, it broke away from the Russian empire, although I do not yet have details of the early 1900s, late 1900s, early 1910s, or late 1910s. In the early-mid 20th century it was incorporated as one of the constituent "republics" of the USSR. I do not yet have details for the early 1920s, late 1920s, early 1930s, or late 1930s. I have few details for the mid 20th century including the early 1940s, late 1940s, early 1950s, or late 1950s. In the late mid 20th century it was an integral part of the USSR. I do not have details of the early 1960s, late 1960s, early 1970s, or late 1970s.

In the late 20th century, during the early 1980s it was a part of the USSR. In the late 1980s it was an integral part of the USSR. I do not yet have details of 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, or 1990. With the breakup of the Soviet Empire, Ukraine became an independent nation in the early 1990s. I do not yet have detail of 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, or 1995. In the late 1990s still had close ties to Russia. I do not yet have details of 1996, 1997. 1998, 1999, or 2000.

Early 21st century

20 January 2011 Two bomb blasts occurred simultaneously in Makiyivka, Ukraine. No injuries were reported and the responsible group threatened more bombings unless they are paid off.
