History

Sites within the nation are important in prehistory including early prehistory, late prehistory, and middle preahistory. Various peoples are known to have settled here in antiquity. I do not yet have details for the 5th millennum BC, 4th millennium BC, 3rd millennium BC, 2nd millennium BC, or early first millennium BC. Various native kingdoms arose in classical and medieval times, though I do not yet have details on early classical, late classical, early medieval, or late medieval times.

Much of its history is modern. In the 16th century, the Portuguese began to dominate the coast, and traded through the 17th and 18th centuries. Arab traders began to dominate the area in the 18th century. I have few details of the 19th century, including the early 19th century, early-mid 19th century, mid 19th century, late-mid 19th century, or late 19th century except that around this time the Germans occupied the country as part of their colonial empire.

In the 20th century details are obscure. It was at first part of the German colonial empire, and then became independent. The early 20th century, early-mid 20th century, mid 20th century, late-mid 20th century remain to be examined. For the late 20th century, the early 1980s, late 1980s, early 1990s, and late 1990s can be examined. The early 21st century all remain to be examined. Events of the early 2000s including 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005 can be considered. Events of the late 2000s including 2006 and 2007 including the 1st quarter, 2nd quarter, and 3rd quarter including July, August, and September may be considered. The fourth quarter including October, November, and December can be examined. Its future is obscure.
