Sudan is one of the 30 most populous countries in the world. Its history is obscure at present. I have no solid information on prehistory including early prehistory, middle prehistory, or late preshistory. I have no detailed information on antiquity including the 5th millennium BC, 5th millennium BC, 3rd millennium BC, 2nd Millennium BC, or early first millennium BC. A few hints from classical and medieval times may be available. In early classical times, the kingdom of Meroe, which was heavily influenced by Egypt, occupied most of the region. In late classical times, it was partly occupied by the Nabatae and the kingdom of Axum. In early medieval times, it was first Christianized, and then conquered by islam. In late medieval times, it was largely Islamic. |
