Spain

Spain is one of the 30 most populous countries in the world.

History

Little is known of Spain during prehistory or antiquity. Its recorded history began approximately during classical and medieval times, with the Roman empire and subsequent developments. It establshed a vast overseas empire in early modern times, which has since declined but left and important historical lgegacy.

Prehistory

Early prehistory including the Pleiocene, early Pleistocene, early mid Pleistocene, late mid Pleistocene, and late Pleistocen can be connected. I have little information on middle prehistory except that certain cave paintings date to this period. I do not yet have details for the period beginning 50,000 years ago, the period beginning 40,000 years ago, the period beginning 30,000 years ago, or the period beginning 20,000 years ago. I do not yet have details of late prehistory including the early 8th millennium BC, late 8th millennium BC, early 7th millennium BC, late 7th millennium BC, early 6th millennium BC, or late 6th millennium BC.

Antiquity

In the 5th millennium BC, cultures called the Andalusian Neolithic prevailed. I do not yet have details for the early 5th millennium BC, the early mid 5th millennium BC, or the mid 5th millennium BC. In the late mid 5th milennium BC, the Cardium Pottery or Mediterranean Neolithic culture can be identified. In the late 5th millennium BC, tomb building began. In the 4th millennium BC, Neolithic cultures prevailed. I do not yet have details of the early 4th millennium BC, the early mid 4th millennium BC, the mid 4th millennium BC, the late mid 4th millennium BC, or the late 4th millennium BC. In the 3rd millennium BC, copper and bronze began to be used. I do not yet have details of the early 3rd millennium BC or the early mid 3rd millennium BC. In the mid 3rd millennium BC, urban communities can be identifed. I have no information on the late mid 3rd millennium BC. In the late 3rd millennium BC, Bell Beaker cultures can be identified. In the 2nd millennium BC, I do not yet have details of in the early 2nd millennium BC. the Bell Beaker culture was present. In early mid 2nd millennium BC, early Bronze age cultures can be identified. In the mid 2nd millennium BC, middle bronze age cultures can be identifid. the late mid 2nd millennium BC. several bronze age cultures suffered serious decline. I have no details of the late 2nd millennium BC. In the early first millennium BC, Celtic peoples and the Iron age can be identified. I do not have details for the 10th century BC or the 9th century BC. In the 8th century BC, the Hallstadt culture was present. I have no details for the 7th century BC, or the 6th century BC.

Classical and medieval history

In early classical times, it was conquered by the Romans. I do not yet have details of the 5th century BC, the 4th century BC, the 3rd century BC, the 2nd century BC, or the 1st century BC. In late classical times, it was part of the Roman empire I do not yet have details of the 1st century CE, the 2nd century CE, the 3rd century CE, the 4th century CE, or the 5th century CE. In early medieval times, it was first overrun by germanic peoples, and then conquered by Islamic peoples. I do not yet have details of the 6th century CE, the 7th century CE, the 8th century CE, the 9th century CE, or the 10th century CE. In late medieval times, it was gradually reconquered by Christians. I do not yet have details of the 11th century, 12th century, 13th century, 14th century, or 15th century, except that Spain completed the Reconquista and began exploration of the new world of the Americas.

Modern history

In the 16th century, it established an empire in the Americas and in parts of Asia. I do not yet have details of the early 16th century, early-mid 16th century, mid 16th century, late-mid 16th century, or late 16th century. In the 17th century, the Spanish empire reached its height, and Spain was heavily involved in the European wars of religion. I do not yet have details of the early 17th century, early mid 17th century, mid 17th century, late -mid 17th century, or late 17th century. In the 18th century, this empire began to decline. I do not yet have detail of the early 18th century, early-mid 18th century, mid 18th century, late-mid 18th century, or late 18th century.

In the 19th century, most of Spain's empire was stripped away by independence movements. Many of these began with the defeat of Spain by Napoleon in the early 19th century, but most became effective in the early-mid 19th century. I have no details of the mid 19th century including the early 1840s, late 1840s, early 1850s, or late 1850s. I have no details of the late-mid 19th century including the early 1860s, late 1860s, early 1870s, or late 1870s, but by the late 19th century, it was losing control of the remainder of its empire. I do not have specific details of the early 1880s, late 1880s, early 1890s or late 1890s.

20th century

In the early 20th century, Spain was neutral in the First World War. I do not yet have details of the early 1900s, late 1900s, early 1910s, or late 1910s. In the early-mid 20th century, the king of Spain was overthown and a republic was formed, but a devastating civil war broke out. The victorious side was led by Francisco Franco, who was a conservative dictator. I do not have details of the early 1920s, late 1920s, early 1930s, or late 1930s. In the mid 20th century, Spain was neutral in Warld War II, but tended to ally more with the US during the Cold War. I do not have details of the early 1940s, late 1940s, early 1950s, or late 1950s. In the late-mid 20th century, it lost its last overseas posessions, and on Franco's death, a constitutional monarchy was established. I do not have many details of the early 1960s, late 1960s, early 1970s, or late 1970s.

During the late 20th century, the country liberalized substantially, although I lack details of the early 1980s. In the late 1980s, Felipe Gonzalez was Prime Minister. I lack details of 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, and 1990. In the early 1990s Gonzales continued as prime Minister. 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, and 1995 can be considered. In the late 1990s, Jose Maria Aznar became Prime Minister. 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, and 2000 can be connected.

In the early 21st century, it initially participated in the invasion of Iraq, but withdrew after a terrorist attack, and adopted full marriage rights for homosexuals.

Events of the early 2000s including 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005 can be connected. Aznar was succeeded as Prime Minister by Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero.

The late 2000s including 2006 and 2007 including the 1st quarter, 2nd quarter, and 3rd quarter including July, August, and September have yet to be considered. The fourth quarter including October, November, and December is being examined.
