Poland

Poland is one of the 40 most populous countries in the world.

History

Prehistory including details of early prehistory, middle prehistory, and late prehstory are unknown. I know little of it in antiquity including the 5th millennium. In the 4th millennium it was inhabited by Neolithic peoples. In the 3rd millennium, it was inhabited by Neolithic peoples, but the copper age and then the Bronze age began. The 2nd millennium included various Bronze age cultures. In the early first millennium, Iron age culture began to appear.

Poland appears in the historical record in classical and medieval times. Nothing is known of early classical times including the 5th century BC, the 4th century BC, the 3rd century BC, the 2nd century BC, or the 1st century BC except from archaeology. Nothing is known of late classical times except from archeology, and I have no specific information on the 1st century CE, the 2nd century CE, the 3rd century CE, or the 4th century CE.

Little is known of early medieval times including the 6th century CE, the 7th century CE, the 8th century CE, or the 9th century CE. In the 10th century CE, The first recorded historical event was the baptism of a king in 966. In late medieval times, various kingdoms were present. The 11th century, 12th century and 13th century lack detail. In the 14th century, Poland was united and began to become a significant kingdom. In the 15th century, it was closely allied with the the Grand duchy of Luthuania.

It has become significant in modern times. Details of its history through. In the 16th century the Jagellion era is considered to have ended with a defeat of Poland by the Ottoman Empire, but the Polish-Lithuanian commonwealth became the largest country in Europe. In the 17th century it began as the largest country in Europe, but began to decline due to an invasion from Sweden, conflicts with Russians, and internal rebellions. I lack details of the 18th century including the early 18th century, early mid 18th century, mid 18th century, late-mid 18th century, or lte 18th century. In the 19th century it was important in European politics, though I lack details of the early 19th century, early-mid 9th century, mid 19th century, late-mid 19th century, or late 19th century. In the 20th century, it has played an important part in various major events. In the early 20th century, it was mostly ruled by Russia, but during World War I, Termany and Austria set up a new Kingdom of Poland, which after the war becane the nucleus of a new state. In the early mid 20th century, the government was partly effective, but was overrun by the Gemans at the beginning of World War II. In the mid 20th century, after Gemany's defeat, Poland fell under Soviet domination in the Cold War, and in the late-mid 20th century remained in its position. In the late 20th century, the anti-Communist "Solidarity" labor movement began to demonstrate the weaknesses of Soviet Communism. The Communist government collapsed without interference from the USSR and a new government was formed. I do not yet have specifics for the early 1980s, late 1980s, early 1990s, or late 1990s.
