Paraguay is a nation of South America. Its history will be discussed as the site develops. Most of it is being taken from the modern period. I do not yet have information on the 16th century century. I do not have details of the 18th century including the early 18th century, early mid 18th century, mid 18th century, late-mid 18th century, or late 18th century. I do not have details of the 19th century. In the early 19th century, Paraguay declared independence from Spain. It was ruled by a dictator in the early mid 19th century. I have no details of the mid 19th century. In the late-mid 19th century, the War of the Triple alliance occurred. I have no details of the late 19th century. Details of the 20th century including the early 20th century, early mid 20th century, mid 20th century, and late-mid 20th century are not yet well known. The late 20th century can be considered. In the early 1980s, Alfred Stroessner remained as President and dictator. In the late 1980s, Stroessner was overthrown by a coup. In the late 1990s, a new constitution was adopted.
