It became better known in classical and medieval times, although I do not yet have details for early classical, late classical, early medieval, or late medieval times. Its modern history is best known. I do not yet have details for it in the 16th century or 17th century. In the early mid 20th century it had similar problems with other nations in the great depression. In the mid 20th century it was invaded and occupied by Germany in World War II, but there was a strong resistance movement, and afterwards it joined the free-world allies. In the late-mid 20th century it prospered economically. I do not have many details of the late 20th century including the early 1980s, or late 1980s. In the early 1990s, it declined joining the European Union. I do not have details of the late 1990s.
