Greece is a nation in Europe.

History

Prehistory including early prehistory, middle prehistory, and late prehistory can be considered.

In antiquity, I do not yet have full details for the 5th millennium BC except that Neolithic culture prevailed. In the 4th millennium BC, Neolithic culture prevailed. In the 3rd millennium BC, the early Helladic peoples and Minoan peoples were prominent. In the 2nd millennium BC, the Minoans declined, and Indo-European speaking peoples are believed to have arrived. The Mycenean peoples were important. I do not yet have details of the early 2nd millennium BC, the early mid 2nd millennium BC, the mid 2nd millennium BC, the late mid 2nd millennium BC, or the late 2nd millennium BC.In the early 1st millennium BC, classical Greek culture began to develop. I do not yet have details of the 10th century BC, the 9th century BC, the 8th century BC, the 7th century BC, or the 6th century BC.

Classical and medieval history

In early classical times, it was a major Mediterranean power in the 5th century BC. In the 4th century BC it had substantial influence through Alexander the Great. In the 3rd century BC its influence declined. In the 2nd century BC it was conquered by the Romans. In the 1st century BC it was under Roman rule.

In late classical times it was under Roman rule. I do not yet have details of the 1st century CE, 2nd century CE, or 3rd century CE. In the 4th century CE, the Roman capital shifted to Byzantium, a Greek city. I do not have details of the 5th century CE. In early medieval times it was under Byzantine rule. I do not yet have details of the 6th century CE, the 7th century CE, the 8th century CE, the 9th century CE, or the 10th century CE. It was also mostly under Byzantine rule in late medieval times. I do not yet have details of the 11th century, 12th century, 13th century, 14th century, or 15th century.

Modern history

Details of the 16th century including the early 16th century, early mid 16th century, mid 16th century, late-mid 16th century, and late 16th century can be connected. The 17th century including the early 17th century, early mid 17th century, mid 17th century, late-mid 17th century, and late 17th century can be connected. The 18th century including the early 18th century, early-mid 18th century, mid 18th century, late-mid 18th century, and late 18th century can be connected. The 19th century can be connected. I have no details for the early 19th century. In the early-mid 19th century it gained indepencence from the Ottoman Empire. The mid 19th century, late-mid 19th century, and late 19th century can be connected.
