Colombia is one of the 30 most populous countries in the world. Its history may also be considered. Antiquity and Classical and medieval history is connected with the American Indian peoples. Most of it is considered entirely modern. It was colonized in the 16th century by the Spanish. There were various explorations in the early 16th century, and the first permanent settlement was founded in the early-mid 16th century. A colonial capital was founded in the mid 16th century. Details of the late-mid 16th century and late 16th century are not yet available here. In the 17th century, it continued as a colonial capital. So far I lack details of the 17th century including the early 17th century, early-mid 17th century, mid 17th century, late-mid 17th century, and late 17th century. In the 18th century it developed further. In the early 18th century, the viceroyalty of New Granada was established. In the early-mid 18th century, the viceyoyalty was removed and then reestablished. I have no details of the mid 18th century, late-mid 18th century, or late 18th century. |

I have no details for the mid 19th century, but in the late-mid 19th century, New Granada was renamed the United States of Colombia. In the late 19th century, it was renamed the Republic of Colombia. More attention is given to the 20th century. In the early 20th century, it was forced to recognize the independence of Panama, after having refused to permit contruction of the Panama Canal. I have few details for the early-mid 20th century or the mid 20th century, I have few details for the late-mid 20th century including the early 1960s, late 1960s, early 1970s, or late 1970s. I also lack details of the late 20th century including the early 1980s, late 1980s, early 1990s, or late 1990s. Current events in the early 21st century can be examined.
