Burma

Burma, also known as Myanmar, is one of the 30 most populous countries in the world.

History

Prehistory including early prehistory is obscure. Middle prehistory including the period beginning 50,000 years ago, the period beginning 40,000 years ago, the period beginning 30,000 years ago, and the period beginning 20,000 years ago can be connected. Late prehistory including the early 8th millennium BC, late 8th millennium BC, early 7th millennium BC, late 7th millennium BC, early 6th millennium BC, late 6th millennium BC can be connected.

Antiquity

The 5th millenium BC including the early 5th millennium BC, the early mid 5th millennium BC, the mid 5th millennium BC, the late mid 5th millennium BC, and the late 5th millennium BC can be connected. Classical and medieval history

In early classical times, the Mon people adopted some of Indian culture. The Pyu people established a kingdom. I do not yet have details of the 5th century BC, the 4th century BC, the 3rd century BC, the 2nd century BC, or the 1st century BC. During late classical times, the Pyu established a number of city states and practiced Buddhism. I do not yet have details of the 1st century CE, 2nd century CE, 3rd century CE, 4th century CE, or 5th century CE. In early medieval times, the Pyu capital was destroyed, while the Mon and Pagan peoples established kingdoms. I do not yeat have details of the 6th century CE, 7th century CE, 8th century CE, 9th century CE, or 10th century CE. In the late medieval period, a dynasty called the Ava dynasty ruled part of what is now Myanmar, while a Mon kingdom ruled another part. I do not yet have details of the 11th century, 12th century, 13th century, 14th century, or 15th century.

Modern history

The 16th century can be followed somwhat. In the early 16th century, the Toungoo dynasty ruled. In the early-mid 16th century, the Shan conquered the capital city of Ava, and the government reorganized at Toungoo. In the mid 16th century, the Portuguese were active and had conquered Malacca. In the late-mid 16th century, Ayutthaya and Manipur were conquered, but not held. In the late 16th century, the Toungoo dynasty was restored. The 17th century including the early 17th century, in which Buma was reunited and the Portuguese attempt to take ofer the country I nave no details for the early-mid 17th century, In the mid 17th century. The Tounoo dynasty ws replaced by the Konboung dynasty. In the late-mid 17th century, it conquered Ayuttthaya, which later became Siam. In the late 17th century, it lost control of Ayutthaya. I do not yet have much detail for the 18th century including the early 18th century, early-mid 18th century, mid 18th century, late-mid 18th century, or late 18th century.

In the 19th century, it came under British rule. In the early 19th century, it was under the rule of the native Konbaung dynasty. In the early-mid 19th century, an attempt to expand into British-controlled India was defeated by the British in the first Anglo-Burmese war. I do not yet have details of the early 1820s, late 1820s, early 1830s, or late 1830s. In the mid-19th century, British officials provoked the second Anglo-Burmese war, and claimed the southern part of the country. I do not yet have details of the early 1840s, late 1840s, early 1850s, or late 1850s. In the late-mid 19th century, the native rulers attempted to modernize and fortify. I do not yet have details of the early 1860s, late 1860s, early 1870s, or late 1870s. In the late 19th century, in the third Anglo-Burmese war, the remainder of the country was annexed by the British. I do not yet have details of the early 1880s, late 1880s, early 1890s, or late 1890s.

20th century

In the early 20th century it was under British rule. I do not yet have details of the early 1900s, late 1900s, early 1910s, or late 1910s. In the early mid-20th century it was under British rule, but I do not yet have details of the early 1920s, late 1920s, early 1930s, or late 1930s. In the mid 20th century, After World War II, it was granted independence as part of Britain's decolonization maovement. I lack detail of the early 1940s, late 1940s, early 1950s, and late 1950s. I have no information at present on the late-mid 20th century including the early 1960s, late 1960s, early 1970s, or late 1970s.

Late 20th century

The early 1980s including 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, and 1985 can be connected. In the late 1980s (1989), a military government adopted the change of name from Burma to Myanmar.
