Bolivia is a nation in South America. Its history will be discussed as the site develops. I have little information on it in prehistory, antiquity, classical and medieval times. I am principally concerned with modern history, through the 16th century. I do not yet have details of the early 16th century, early mid 16th century, mid 16th century, late mid 16th cebtury, or late 16th century. I do not yet have details of the 17th century including the early 17th century, early mid 17th century, mid 17th century, late-mid 17th century, or late 17th century. I do not yet have details of the 18th century including the early 18th century, early-mid 18th century, mid 18th century, late-mid 18th century, or late 18th century. In the 19th century, in the early 19th century there was in independence movement, and in the early mid 19th century, Bolivia gained independence from Spain. I do not have many details of the mid 19th century. In the late-mid 19th century it was allied with Peru against Chile in the War of the Pacific, and in the late 19th century was defeated and lost its Pacific coastal territory. I do not yet have details of the 20th century including the early 20th century, early-mid 20th century, mid 20th century, or late-mid 20th century. In the late 20th century I have few details. In the early 1980s, former president Hernan Siles Zuazo was elected president. In the late 1980s, former president Victor Paz Estenssoro was chosen. In the early 1990s, Paz Jaime Zamora was selected as president, succeeded in the late 1980s by former President Hugo Banzer Suarez.
