Miami is an important city of the United States. History Miami was founded in modern times. There was some Spanish occupation of the site in the 16th century. Little is known of the 17th century or 18th century. It was founded in the 19th century. I have no details of the early 19th century. In the early mid 19th century, there were fights with the Seminole Indians. I have no details of the mid 19th century or the late-mid 19th century, but the modern city was incorporated in the 19th century (1896).
