Cairo

Cairo is the largest city, or urban agglomeration, of Egypt and is one of the 15 largest in the world.

History

Although places now included within the city were founded in prehistory and antiquity, Cairo seems to have become important in classical and medieval times. There was a roman fort founded in early classical times which was occupied through late classical times as well. I do not yet have details of the 5th century CE, 6th century CE, 7th century CE, 8th century CE, 9th century CE, or 10th century CE. The modern Islamic city is considered to have been founded in the early medieval period, in the 10th century CE (969). Cairo was Egypt's capital in late medieval times. I do not yet have detail of the 11th century, 12th century, 13th century, 14th century, or 15th century.

Modern history

I lack details of its development in the 16th century including the early 16th century, early mid 16th century, mid 16th century, late-mid 16th century, and late 16th century. The 17th century including the early 17th century, early mid 17th century, mid 17th century, late-mid 17th century, and late 17th century can be considered. The 18th century including the early 18th century, early-mid 18th century, mid 18th century, late-mid 18th century, and late 18th century can be connected. In the 19th century it has been a center of Western influence. In the early and early-mid 19th century, it prospered economically and a new Europeanized city center was build. In the mid-19th century, it was linked by railroads in the rest of the country, and in the mid 19th century, there was a grand building program. In the late-mid 19th century, I lack details, but in the late 19th century, an electrical network was begin and a new suburb called Heiropolis (after the ancient egyptian site) was built.

It has been important in the 20th century. Details through the early 20th century, early mid 20th century, mid 20th century, and late-mid 20th century including the early 1960s, late 1960s, early 1970s, and late 1970s are also lacking. The late 20th century can be connected. Details through the early 1980s, late 1980s, early 1990s, and late 1990s are also absent.

Most attention is given to the early 21st century including the early 2000s. Information about events through 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005 should be added before long as the site develops. Of most immediate concern are current events of the late 2000s beginning in 2006. The first through fourth quarters should be discussed before long. 2007 has more current events. The first quarter, second quarter, and third quarter can be examined. The fourth quarter including October and November has the most recent events. Events of 2008 can be connected. 2009 including the first quarter 2009, second quarter 2009, third quarter 2009, and fourth quarter 2009 can be connected. 2010 including the first quarter 2010, second quarter 2010, third quarter 2010, and fourth quarter 2010 can also be connected.

The early 2010s can be connected. 2011 can be connected. The first quarter 2011 can be connected. January 2011 including 2011 week 1, 2011 week 2, 2011 week 3, 2011 week 4, 2011 week 5, and 2011 week 6 can be connected. February 2011 and March 2011 can be connected. The second quarter 2011 and third quarter 2011 can be connected.

Its future including the near future, middle future, and far future is obscure.

Other Sociology

Connections to various peoples can be explored. This could be examined using particular nations, but most of these connections are at best indirectly useful. Cairo belongs to Asiatic peoples, in particular those of the Middle East, and is the capital city of Egypt. It has been influenced somewhat by Western civilization. African peoples and American Indian people have been less significant. Connections to other cities are not yet clear. Connections to social structure and change including social structure will be considered. Social change including social change factors, social change processes, and particular changes can be examined. Social types including hunting and gathering societies, horticultural societies, agrarian societies, and industrial societies can be considered.

The institutions of families, education, and economics will be highly significant. Religion including beliefs, practice, organization, and particular traditions will be very important. Government including law, government activity, government struture, and particular governments is also significant.

The culture of Cairo, including material culture, conceptual culture, and behavioral culture will be significant.

Anthropology including social foundations, demography, human geography, physical anthropology, human ecology, and particular groups will also be developed.

Personal studies are less useful for studies of the human body and psychology than for biographies

Physical and natural science is for the most part indirectly connected. Physics and chemistry are less useful than astronomy, earth science, and biology.
