Events in the Middle East were dominated by a war on terror. South Asian peoples developed economically, as did Oriental peoples. Many central Asian peoples were freed from Soviet rule, but suffered political conflict and instability. Changes in Oriental peoples were gradual. Events of Southeast Asia remained turbulent.
Middle Eastern peoples can be considered. South Asian peoples can be considered. Central Asian peoples can be considered. Oriental peoples can be considered. Southeast Asian peoples can also be examined.
In 2001, in India, three new states were created. Among Oriental peoples in China, a Chinese fighter collided with a US surveillance craft, causing an international incident. The Chinese won their bid to host the 2008 Summer Olympic games in 2008. a treaty with Russia was signed. China was admitted into the World Trade Organization and estalished a normal trade relationship with the US. In 2002 On Indonesia, East Timor officially gained independence. Among South Asian peoples, in India I have no recorded events. Among Oriental peoples in China, Hu Jintao became General Secretary of the Chinese Communist party. In 2003 in Indonesia, I have no recorded events for the year. Among South Asian peoples, in India, the Congress party gained a majority of seats in the parliamentary election. Among Oriental peoples, Hu Jintao became President of China. The reservoir behind the controversial Three Gorges Dam began to fill. In 2004, in Pakistan Pervez Musharraff won a vote of confidence, confirming him as President until 2007. Among South Asian peoples, I have no specific details for India. Among Oriental peoples, China signed a foreign aid agreement with Argentina and a Chinese company purchased IBM's PC interests. Among Southeast Asian peoples In Indonesia, a massive tsunami centered near Sumatra was one of greatest natural disasters in recorded history. Events of 2005 can be considered. In Bangladesh, I have no events recorded. Among South Asian peoples, I do not yave events for India listed. In Pakistan, rebels in Baluchistan were attacked by government forces. Among Oriental peoples, I do not have events listed for China. Among Southeast Asian peoples, in Indonesia there was an earthquake in the Indian Ocean off Sumatra. Bombings took place in Bali. Developments of the 3rd quarter are being examined. Only samplings of events for July which include South Asian, Central Asian, and Oriental peoples are yet available. Events of August are incompletely analyzed. Events of South Asia included various natural disasters, especially flooding, and in Pakistan. Few events among Oriental peoples are yet noted. Southeast Asia also has few reported events. Events of September can be examined. In the Middle East, various incidents in connection with Turkey and northern Iraq were of some interest. In South Asia, political unrest preceding an election faced by president Pervez Musharraf was of greatest interest. Former Prime Minister Nawas Sharif attempted to return to Pakistan but was deported. In the Orient, various incidents of political unress occurred, while Yasou Fukuda replaced Shinzo Abe as Prime Minister of Japan. In Southeast Asia, various earthquakes occurred in Indonesia, and in the Philippines, various political corruption cases recieved attention.
Developments of the 4th quarter are still new and the importance of various developments is unclear. In the Middle East, there appeared to be a decline in the insurgency, and conflicts between Turkey and elements in Iraq continued. In South Asia, there was considerable political turmoil in Pakistan. In the Orient, few events gained international attention. In Southeast Asia, various natural floods and typhoons gained attention. Events of October can be examined. In the Middle East, the insurgency in Iraq appeared to be in decline, but there were numerous conflicts between Turkey and various peoples in Iraq. In South Asia, Pervez Musharraf was elected president of Pakistan, but numerous incidents of violence occurred. Former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto returned to Pakistan. In the Orient, a congress of the Communist Party resulted in various changes in high-level leadership, and China and Japan both launched lunar orbiters. In Southeast Asia, there were seveal typhoons and natural disasters and various incidents of unres. Events of November can be examined. In the middle East, the insurgency in Iraq appeared to decline. There was still between Turkey and parties in Iraq. In South Asia, a state of emergency was declared in Pakistan and there was accompanying political unrest. Few events in the Orient were noticeable. Various natural disasters in Southeast Asia were most widely reported. Events of December have not yet progressed, far, but in the Middle East, the insurgency in Iraq continues and conflict between Turkey and parties in Iraq contines. In South Asia, political events in Pakistan continue to unfold. Among Oriental peoples, there are continuing effects from recent changes in Communist Party leadership in China.

In April India launched ten satellites in a single launch. Among Orienta peoples, there was a fatal train crash in China. In May, I have no events recorded for Indonesia. In South Asia, in India there was a series of fatal bomb blasts. Among Oriental peoples, there was a major earthquake in central China. In June, In Indonesia, the practice of the Ahmadiyya form of Islam was made a crime. Among South Asian peoples, in India, Prime minister Manmohan Singh called for global nuclear disarmament. Among Oriental poples, events in China included cross-strait talks with Taiwan, and significant typhoon-caused flooding in South China.
Events of the third quarter 2008 including those occurring in Thailand and the city of Manila, Middle Eastern peoples, South Asian peoples, Oriental peoples, and Southeast Asian peoples can be considered. During July I have no events listed for Bangladesh. In South Asia, the United Progress Alliance, the coalition in power in India, survived a no-confidence vote over a US-India treaty on nuclear material. Bomb blasts occured in Bangalore. I have no events listed for Pakistan. For Oriental peoples, I have no events recorded for China in particular. For Southeast Asia, I have no events listed for Indonesia. In August, I have no events yet listed for Iran or cities including Bombay. Among Middle Eastern peoples, I do not yet have many events for Egypt or for Turkey. Among South Asian peoples, in India a stampede at a Hindu temple killed over 150 people. In Pakistan, Pervez Musharraf resigned as President under impeachment pressure. I have no events listed for Bangladesh. Among Cities I have no particular notice of Delhi. Among Oriental peoples China hosted the 2008 Summer Olympic Games. I have no events yet listed for Japan. I do not yet have events listed for Tokyo or Seoul Among South Asian peoples, in Indonesia I have no events recorded at present, and I do not yet have events for the Philippines or Vietnam. Events of September can be included. In Thailand there was a political crisis. I do not yet have events listed for Manila. Among Middle Eastern peoples, I have no events listed for Iran. In Egypt there was a notable landslide. I have few events listed for Turkey. Among South Asian peoples, in India, I have some events recorded. In Delhi there were a couple of bombings. In Pakistan, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani of survived an assassination attempt. Asif Ali Zardari was elected as the President of Pakistan by the Electoral College. For Bangladesh I have no events recorded. I do not yet have events listed for Bombay. Among Oriental peoples, In China, the third manned spacefight occurred, including the first Chinese spacewalk. In Japan, Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda abruptly resigned less than a year after taking office. I have no events listed for Tokyo. I have no events listed for Seoul. Among Southeast Asian peoples, there is Indonesia, for which I have no events recorded. I have no events yet for the Philippines. I have no events yet recorded for Vietnam.
