Oriental History

The prehistory of Oriental peoples is somewhat obscure. They hve been examined to some extent in antiquity. During classical and medieval times, they developed extensive civilizations. During modern times, they have have interacted extensively with Western Civilization.

History

This can be examined in greater detail with individual histories of China, Japan, North Korea, South Korea, and Taiwan.

Prehistory

There is limited evident of the prehistory of China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, and South Korea.

For early prehistory there is evidence of early human habitation in China. I have little information about Taiwan or Hong Kong. Japan was probably uninhabited during this period. I do not yet have information about North Korea or South Korea.

In middle prehistory, I also have limited information about China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, North Korea and South Korea. The bulk of modern human peoples seem to have arrived. China was settled modern humans. I do not yet have more information about the period beginning 50,000 years ago, the period beginning 40,000 years ago. In the period beginning 30,000 years ago, it is thought that Japan was settled. I have no details of the the period beginning 20,000 years ago.

The development of Neolithic culture in late prehistory is also fairly late compared to developments in the Middle east, but there is some evidence of it. China can be considered. I know little of Taiwan. I know nothing of Japan except that it was inhabited by peoples of the Jomon culture. So far I lack details of North Korea and South Korea. I do not yet have details of the early 8th millennium BC, the late 8th millennium BC, the early 7th millennium BC, the late 7th millennium BC, the early 6th millennium BC, or the late 6th millennium BC.

Antiquity

This can be traced somewhat with information from China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, and North Korea.

In the 5th millennium BC, the Yang Shao people appeared in China. Tawian may have been settled by peoples who spoke languages ancestral to Austronesian languages. I know little of Japan, South Korea, or North Korea during this period. I do not yet have details of the early 5th millennium BC, the early mid 5th millennium BC, the mid 5th millennium BC, the late mid 5th millennium BC, or the late 5th millennium BC.

In the 4th millennium, the Yang Shao culture expanded. I have no information on Japan. I do not yet have details of the early 4th millennium BC, the early mid 4th millennium BC, the mid 4th millennium BC, the late mid 4th millennium BC, or the late 4th millennium BC. In the 3rd millennium, pottery came into use in China. I have no information on Japan for this period. I do not yet have details of the early 3rd millennium BC, the early mid 3rd millennium BC, the mid 3rd millennium BC, the late mid 3rd millennium BC, or the late 3rd millennium BC. In the 2nd millennium, the bronze age Shang culture can be identified. This was succeeded by the western Chou. I have no information on Japan in this period.I do not yet have details of the early 2nd millennium BC, the early mid 2nd millennium BC, the mid 2nd millennium BC, the late mid 2nd millennium BC, or the late 2nd millennium BC. In the early first millennium, the western Chou was followed by the Eastern Chou, which was followed by what is called the Warring States period. In Japan, according to legend, the first emperor began to rule. In South Korea, evidence of bronze working appears. I do not yet have details of the 10th century BC, the 9th century BC, the 8th century BC, the 7th century BC, or the 6th century BC.

Classical and medieval history

This includes information for China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, and North Korea.

In early classical times, in China, the Qin dynasty led by Shih Huang Ti unified China, but was short lived. It was followed by the Han dynasty. I have no information on Japan in this period, and no specific information on Korea. I do not yet have specific detail on the 5th century BC, the 4th century BC, the 3rd century BC, the 2nd century BC, or the first century BC. In late classical times, the empire led by the Han dynasty broke up. In Japan, written history began and Confucianism entered the country. Three Independent kingdoms arose in Korea. Cities include Seoul. I do not yet have details for the 1st century CE, the 2nd century CE, the 3rd century CE, the 4th century CE, or the 5th century CE.

In early medieval times, the Sui, T'ang, and Song dynasties ruled China. In Japan, Buddhism reached the country, and the Japanese began to assert cultural independence from China. I have no details about Korea at present. The site of Tokyo was inhabited. I have no details on the development of Seoul. Osaka was briefly the capital of Japan. I do not yet have details of the 6th century, 7th century, 8th century, 9th century, or 10th century.

In late medieval times, in China the Song were followed by the Yuan or Mongol dynasty, which were in turn followed by the Ming. Shanghai seems to have originated as a fishing village. I do not yet have details of Taiwan. In Japan, emperors were weak and dominated by the Shogun and various warrior clans. A fortress called Edo was founded. I have no information on South Korea during this period. The city Seoul developed, and Osaka flourished as a trading port. I do not yet have details of the 11th century, 12th century, or 13th century. In the 14th century, the Yuan or Mongol dynasty was overthrown and succeeded by the Ming dynasty beginning in 1368. In the 15th century, the Ming dynasy of China reached its height.

Modern history

Oriental peoples have been dominated but for the most part not directly ruled by western civilizations in the modern period. China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, North Korea, and South Korea can be examined. in the 16th century, 17th century, 18th century, 19th century, and 20th century.

Future

China with its cities of Shanghai, Canton, Beijing, Shenzhen, and Wuhan, and Tientsen, Taiwan, Hong Kong with Hong Kong proper; Japan with its cities of Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya; South Korea with its city of Seoul, and North Korea can be considered. The near future including China, Taiwan, Japan with its city of Tokyo; South Korea with the city of Seoul, and North Korea can be considered. Next month including China, Japan, and South Korea can be considered. October 2009 overlaps with the present and November 2009 can be considered. Next quarter including China during Decenber 2009, January 2010, February 2010, and March 2010. Next year can also be considered. The middle future including China and Japan over the next five years, next twenty years, next century, and next five centuries, and far future can be examined.
