Mesopotamia comes from the Greek for "between the rivers", the Tigris and Euphrates, but has come to extend to the plains and highlands surrounding this region. It is the seat of one of the oldest civilizations, and for much of world history was a center of civilization and culture. The region is now included in the nation of Iraq, and has therefore drawn much recent attention. Divisions are not yet available. |
