The periods of prehistory and antiquity in Subsaharan Africa are little known, since most of these peoples were not literate, and interaction with other peoples was slow and difficult. More information is available for classical and medieval times. These are best known from modern history, and fairly recently in the period. Their future has not yet been well examined. This includes information from East african peoples, West African peoples, Southern African peoples, and Central African peoples. |

East African peoples are not yet well known in prehistory. There is some information dating to antiquity, and these were beginning to be explored in classical and medieval times. Their modern history is best known. West African peoples are little known in prehistory or antiquity. They are better known from classical and medieval and modern times. Southern African peoples are little known in prehistory, antiquity, or classical and medieval times. They are best known from modern times. Central African peoples are also little known in prehistory, antiquity, or classical and medieval times. They are also best known from modern times.
The prehistory of African peoples is little known. Kenya is little known. Eastern African peoples have been examined somewhat. Ethiopia, Sudan, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda are little known. Western Africa including Interior Western Africa with nations of Burkina Faso, Niger, and Mali, Southern Coastal West Africa including Nigera and Ghana, and Western Coastal West Africa including Ivory Coast and Sengal, is not yet well examined here. Central African peoples including those of Congo, Cameroon, and Angola are not yet well known. Southern African peoples including South Africa, Mozambique, Madagascar, Zimbabwe, Malawi, and Zanbia are not well known.
Details of early prehistory are primarily known to specialists. In Eastern Africa, Northern East Africa and Central East Africa have yielded some of the oldest hominid and human remains. Interior East Africa is not so well explored. There is some information from Southern AFrican peoples. Central African peoples and Western African peoples are also not well explored. I do not yet have many details for the Pliocene, early Pleistocene, early mid Pleistocene, late mid Pleistocene, or late Pleistocene
Details of middle prehistory are primarily known to specialists. I know little of Congo or East African peoples including those of Ethiopia in this period and I have not yet closely examined Western African peoples including those of Nigeria. I do not yet have details for the period beginning 50,000 years ago, the period beginning 40,000 years ago, the period beginning 30,000 years ago, or the period beginning 20,000 years ago.
Late prehistory is poorly known. I know little of Congo, or East African peoples including those of Ethiopia during this period, and among West African peoples so far I have only looked at Nigeria. I do not yet have good information for the early 8th millennium BC, late 8th millennium BC, early 7th millennium BC, late 7th millennium BC, early 6th millennium BC, or late 6th millennium BC.
Antiquity is also little known. Kenya is being connected. East Africa has not yet been well investigated. West Africa including Nigeria has not yet been investigated. Central Africa has not yet been investigated, and Southern Africa is little known.
No events are recorded here for the 5th Millennium BC including peoples of Congo, East African peoples including Ethiopia, or West Africa including Nigeria. I do not yet have details of the early 5th millennium BC, the early mid 5th millennium BC, the mid 5th millennium BC, the late mid 5th millennium BC, or the late 5th millennium BC.
I also have no information for the 4th Millennium BC, including East African peoples, West African peoples, Southern African peoples, or Central African peoples. 634 - 644 CE Umar I, second caliph, led Muslims to conquer Syria and Mesopotamia and began conquest of Egypt and Syria. His rules for administration of conquered territories served as the basis for administrative and legal structure of the Islamic empire.
East Africa was or came mostly under Islamic rule. Few details from North Eastern Africa, Interior East Africa, or Coastal West Africa are available. In Western Africa, specifically Southern Coastal West Africa, Islamic conquerers began to move in. In Southern Africa, I have no information from South Africa or Mozambique. Few details from Central Africa including Congo are available. I lack specific details of the 11th century, 12th century, 13th century, 14th century or 15th century.
1497-1499 CE da Gama reached India by sailing around Africa, initiating the European exploration and exploitation of Asia and Africa.
There is more information from the modern period. This ought to include information on Eastern Africa, Western Africa, Southern Africa, and Central Africa. The 16th century, 17th century, 18th century, 19th century, and 20th century can be connected.
The future including Sudan; Eastern Africa including Ethiopia; Western Africa including Nigeria; Southern Africa including South Africa; and Central Africa including Congo (DR) can be examined. The near future of Ethiopia and West Africa including Nigeria, next month to Nigeria (November 2008 and December 2008), next quarter, and next year, middle future, and far future are obscure.
