Content

There are three types of solids generally dealt with: Crystals. polycrystalline solids, and noncrystalline solids.

Other areas of knowledge such as Personal studies, anthropology, culture, institutions, sociology, and history will be connected as this site develops.

Other areas of science incuding biology, earth science, astronomy, and chemistry are principally areas of application and provide examples

Other areas of the structure of matter can be considered. Quantum theory is significant. relativity is not particularly useful. electromagnetism can be considered. Thermodynamics can also be considered. Mechanics is important because solids are largely defined by their mechanical properties. Gravitation is less directly useful than deformable body mechanics, rigid body mechanics, and particle mechanics.
