Paul

Paul, also known as Saint Paul, or Saul of Tarsus, was one of the most important early Christian missionaries. He was born c. 10 CE and died c. 67 CE. He is known from accounts of his life and letters attributed to him in the New Testament.

Science is at present only weakly connected to Paul, though earth science will be indirectly useful.

Other personal studies oncluding the human body and psychology are much better connected Biography of other individuals will be useful. Paul was a younger contemporary of Jesus.

Anthropology will also be connected. Social foundations can be connected. Demography is harder to apply. Physical anthropology and human ecology are difficult to connect. Human geography will be significant. Paul worked and traveled within Europe and Asia. Particular groups may be useful.

Culture

Material culture including industrial technology, building technology, foodstufs, clothing, transportation technology, communication technology, and other artifacts can be connected. Conceptual culture including and language, graphic arts is also closely connected, as is literature. Matheamtics, applied science, and philosophy are less directly significant. Behavioral culture including customs, occupations, recreation and entertainment, and cultural events is not yet as well connected.

Institutions

Family including marriage, parenting, kinship, and particular families seems to be weakly connected. Paul is not known to have been married, left any descendants, or had influential relatives or family. Education including research, teaching, cultural institutions, educational organization, and particular schools is somewhat connected. Paul was a student of Jewish law, but left those studies and became a highly effective teacher of Christianity. Connections with economics including activities, industries, and economic systems are weak. He had fairly weak connections with government, and those were as a citizen rather than a ruler. Law, government structure, government activity, and particular governments can be considered. He is most closely associated with religion. His religious beliefs are partly documented, as welll as practices, and he was involved in religious organization. He is also connected with a particular tradition.

Sociology is also significant. Social structure and change and particular communities may be useful, and peoples also. I do not yet have connections to particular nations. His origins were in Asiatic peoples, particularly in the Middle East. He lived and worked in much of what now Turkey, as well as other regions. He is still considered a key figure in Western Civilization. He had some connection with Balkan peoples and Latin peoples, particularly Italy.

Paul lived during the late classical period of history, specifically the first century CE.
