Jesus of Nazareth, also called Jesus Christ is one of the most influential figures in world history. He is considered the founder of Christianity. It is sometimes forgotten that his life and social background were from Asia. The date of his birth is uncertain, most likely between 4 BC and 1 BC, and he died most probably in 30 or 33 CE. At present, I have no summary of his life or career. |

Anthropology will also be useful. Social fundamentals are applicable. Demography applies only with difficulty. Physical anthropology and human ecology are not clear. Aspects of human geography are somewhat applicable Jesus lived in Southwest Asia. As far as is known, he never visited Europe. He was the founder of particular groups of uncertain composition. CultureMaterial culture including industrial technology, building technology, foodstuffs, clothing, transportation technology, communication technology, and other artifacts are not well known. Conceptual culture is vital. There are some connections to language. He is the subject of much graphic art, all of it created long after he lived, and none based on a physical description. Literature is highly important. He is not known to have left any writings, but oral tradition was recorded not long after his death. Matters of form and style are not clear. He is the subject of many works of literature. The primary source is the Bible, particulary the New Testament. Behavioral culture is not well known. He did not strictly observe the customs of the day. He was said to have been a carpenter by occupation. Connections with performing arts, games, and sports are unknown, but he did participate in cultural events of his time. InstitutionsFamily is weakly connected, including marriage, parenting, kinship, or particular families. He is no recorded to have been married or left any descendants, but others of his relatives were significant. Education including research, teaching, cultural institutions, educational organization, and particlar schools is somewhat weakly connected, though he was a highly effective teacher. Economics including economic activity, industry, and economic systems seems to be weakly connected. He is not strongly associated with government, including law, government activity, governent structure, or particular governments. He is best known for his connection with Religion. He was an innovator in religious belief, practice, and organization. The particular tradition associated with him is in the Abrahamic family. Sociology will eventually be useful. His connection with social structure and change will be a challenge to analyze. He can be associated with social structure, social types, and social change. Communities will eventually be useful, and various peoples of the earth will also be useful. I don't yet have connections with specific nations. Asiatic peoples are most useful. Jesus lived among Middle Eastern peoples and these give the best background for his life and teachings. Parts of Western civilization also influenced his life. The date of Jesus' birth is uncertain, but is generally believed to be at the end of the early classical period. He lived mostly during the late classical period. |
