Confucius

Confucius (also Kong Fuzi or K'ung-fu-tzu) is a major figure of world history, but I do not yet have any significant biographical connections to him. He is known from works attributed to him, and as a philosopher. His influence in the field of government was considerable.

Science including earth science is at present only weakly and indirectly connected to Confucius.

Connections to the human body and to psychology may be useful. Links to biographies of other people can also be made.

Anthropology can also be connected. Social foundations, demography, physical anthropology, human ecologym and human geography are important. Confucius lived in Asia and never visited Europe. Connections to particular groups have not yet been made.

Culture

Material culture including industrial technology, building technology, foodstuffs, clothing, transportation technology, communication technology, and other artifacts can be considered. Conceptual culture including language and graphic arts can better connected. Literature will be significant. Mathematics, applied science, and philosophy are also connected. Behavioral culture including customs, occupations, recreation and entertainment, and cultural events can be connected.

Institutions

Family including marriage, parenting, kinship, and particular families may have been important. I am uncertain of connections to formal education including research, teaching, cultural instittuions, educational organization, or particular schools. I have little information on connections with economics including economic activities, industries, or economic systems. His connection with government is also significant, though he was never a major political leader. Connections with law, government structure, government practice, and particular governments can be examined. religion are also connected. Specific details of his religious belief, practice, and organization are not yet availabe but he is associated with major traditions.

Sociology will also be significant. Social structure and change will be connected. Some particular communities and peoples are also important. Only one specific connection to nations is available: he lived in what is now China. He is an important figure in Asiatic civilization, particularly Oriental peoples.

It is believed that Confucius was born in antiquity, specifically in the early first millennium BC. He is believed to have died in the early classical period, specifically the fifth century BC.
