Winston Leonard Spencer Cnurchill was born in 1874 and educateed at Harrow and Sandhurst. He served in the army and was elected to Parliament in 1900. Churchill served in numerous high positions in government, including First Lord of the Admiralty during the early part of World War I. In 1940, he was appointed Prime Minister and Minister of Defense. In the early 1940s, Churchill was noted for his oratory and leadership in World War II. In most of the late 1940s, he had been replaced as Prime Minister. In the early 1950s, he was again Prime Minister from 1951 to 1955. In the late 1950, he remained in Parliament. In the early 1960s, in 1964, he did not seek reelection, and died in 1965. |
