HistoryPagan religion dates from prehistory including possibly early prehistory, middle prehistory, and late prehistory. These can be followed in antiquity, including the 5th millennium BC and 4th millennium BC. In the 3rd Millennium BC, distinctively religious writings can be examined. These religions were prominent in the 2nd millennium BC and the early 1st millennium BC. |

In classical and medieval times, they began to be supplanted by the modern religions. This process more or less began in early classic times, but continued in late classical times. I do not yet have details of the 1st century CE, 2nd century CE, 3rd century CE, 4th century CE, or 5th century CE. In early medieval times, certain of the pagan religions declined yet further. In late medieval times, even more decline was evident. During modern times, they have increasingly lost adherents, but survive. The 16th century can be examined. The 17th century including the early 17th century, early mid 17th century, mid 17th century, late mid 17th century, and late 17th century can be examined. The 18th century including the early 18th century, early mid 18th century, mid 18th century, late mid 18th century, and late 18th century can be examined. During the 19th century, Increasing contact with Western civilizations led to a decline in Asian and American Indian pagan religions. I do not yet have details of the early 19th century, early mid 19th century, mid 19th century, late mid 19th century, or late 19th century. Details of the 20th century including European pagan, Asian Pagan, African pagan, American Indian Pagan, and neopagan religions can be followed. The early 20th century, early-mid 20th century, mid 20th century, late-mid 20th century, late 20th century, are difficult to generalize. I do not yet have many details of the late 20th century including the early 1980s, late 1980s, early 1990s, or late 1990s. They are little known in the early 21st century including the early 2000s.
