Buddhism has a long history and is one of the major Asiatic religions. It originated with Gautama Buddha possibly in antiquity. It developed in classical and medieval times, although I do not yet have details for early classical, late classical, early medieval, or late medieval times.

Its modern history through the 16th century, 17th century, and 18th century can be examined. The 19th century including the early 19th century, early mid 19th century, mid 19th century, late mid 19th century, and late 19th century can be followed somehat. It can also be followed somewhat in the 20th century including the early 20th century, early-mid 20th century, mid 20th century, late-mid 20th century, and late 20th century. Current and recent events of the early 21st century can be followed. Its future is obscure.
