Buddhism has a long history and is one of the major Asiatic religions. It originated with Gautama Buddha possibly in antiquity, and developed in classical and medieval times. Its modern history through the 16th century, 17th century, 18th century, and 19th century, can be followed somehat. It can also be followed somewhat in the 20th century including the early 20th century, early-mid 20th century, mid 20th century, late-mid 20th century, and late 20th century. Current and recent events of the early 21st century can be followed. Its future is obscure.
