The history of Asian pagan religions is also significant. These were present in prehistory and antiquity, In Classical and medieval times they began to decline and be replaced. In early classical times, the better known Asiatic religions began to be important. In late classical times, Asiatic religions continued to expand and in some measure supplant them. In Early medieval times, Islam arose and began to supplant even more of them, and by Late medieval times, they were generally far less significant than before. Remnants have survived into modern times, including the 16th century, 17th century, 18th century, 19th century, and 20th century. Their future is obscure.
