This is connected to families, education, economics, government, and religion, and other areas of economics. Connections to sociology including social structure and change and communities will also be explored. Peoples of the world including particular nations and Western Civilization, Asiatic peoples, African peoples, and American Indian peoples may give examples of firms.

Firms have a signifcant history Prehistory appears to be a bid difficult to examine, but developments in antiquity and classical and medieval history can be followed. Developments in modern history including the 16th century, 17th century, 18th century, 19th century, and 20th century can be examined. Their future is obscure.
