Sociology Applied to Modern History

As with history in general, the examination of social structure and change, communities, and peoples of the world gives weight and substance to modern history.

   

Sociology

This is also applied to particular divisions of modern history, including the 16th century, the 17th century, the 18th century, the 19th century, and the 20th century.

Peoples of the world

Particular nations are useful in gathering information about modern history. Western Civilization has figured prominently and has dominated modern history. Asiatic peoples have also been significant and offer a different perspective. African peoples have become known in Western Civilization in modern times, but have occupied a somewhat secondary role. American Indian peoples have become submerged in Western Civilization, and have been comparatively neglected.

Communities

Communities which I have so far identifed as having a modern history are listed along with the peoples they are principally associated with. Cities which have not yet been linked or distributed include Casablanca, Seattle, Ankara, Melbourne Brasilia, Recife, Athens, Montreal.

Social structure and change

The 16th century can be examined using social change, social types, and social structure. The 17th century can be examined using social change, social types, and social structure. The 18th century can be examined using social change, social types, and social structure. The 19th century can be examined using social change, social types, and social structure. The 20th century can be examined using social change, social types, and social structure.

Social change

The 16th century, 17th century, 18th century, 19th century, and 20th century can all be examined using particular movements, social change processes, and social change factors.

Particular movements

The 16th century, 17th century, 18th century, 19th century, and 20th century can be examined using particular changes and movements. The agricultural revolution had mostly been completed.

The agrarian revolution had mostly been completed, but there were continuing developments in the 16th century, 17th century, 18th century, 19th century, and 20th century. The Late iron age was mostly complete. Most of these had to do with modernization, which has continued through the 16th century, 17th century, and 18th century, and possibly into the 19th century and 20th century.

The industrial revolution has taken place entirely in this period beginning in the 18th century and continuing in the 19th century and the 20th century. The early industrial revolution began in the 18th century and continued into the 19th century, and has continued to some extent into the 20th century. The middle industrial revolution began in the 19th century and has continued to some extent into the 20th century. The late industrial revolution began in the 20th century.

Social change factors

Social change factors can be applied to the 16th century, 17th century, 18th century, 19th century, and 20th century. Institutional change can be applied to the 16th century, 17th century, 19th century, 19th century, and 20th century. Cultural change can be connected. Demographic change can be connected. Natural change is significant.

Social change processes

Processes of change can be applied to the 16th century, 17th century, 18th century, 19th century, and 20th century. Innovation can be applied to the 16th century, 17th century, 18th century, and 19th century. Transmission can be applied to the 16th century, 17th century, 18th century, 19th century, and 20th century. Adaptation can be applied to the 16th century, 17th century, 18th century, 19th century, and 20th century. Extinction can be applied to the 16th century, 17th century, 18th century, 19th century, and 20th century.

Social types

Studies of social types can be applied to the 16th century, 17th century, 18th century, 19th century, and 20th century. Industrial societies began to appear in the 18th century, grew in the 19th century, and predominated in the 20th century. Agrarian societies grew and developed through the 16th century, 17th century, 19th century, 19th century, and 20th century. Horticultural societies also became fewer through the 16th century, 17th century, 18th century, 19th century, and 20th century. Hunting and gathering peoples were few and became fewer through the 16th century, 17th century, 18th century, 19th century, and 20th century.
