Among South Asian peoples, in India, Indira Gandhi served as Prime Minister. Among Oriental peoples, in China, Mao's Cultural Revolution continued. Among Southeast Asian peoples, in Indonesia, Sukarno was stripped of power and deposed, and succeeded by Suharto. American Indian peoples as found in the United States and Brazil are less well known.
