In January there was an expansion of the European Union. In February, North Korea agreed to shut down its nuclear program. March, the National Peoples's Congress of China met.
In April, I have not yet identified noteworthy events. In May, British Prime Minister Tony Blair announced his resignation and Nicolas Sarcozy succeeded Jacques Chirac as President of France. In June, Tony Blair was succeeded by Gordon Brown as British Prime Minister.
In July, India selected its first female Prime Minister. The former Prime Minister of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto announced her intention to return to the country. I have minimal notes on Western peoples at this point. In August, significant events included extensive flooding in South Asia. There are more extensive notes for September including Asiatic and Western peoples, but no events are yet considered pivotal.
In October, a series of anti-government protests in Myanmar took place. In November, a state of emergency was declared in Pakistan. Events of December have not yet been analzyed.
