1 June In the Amazon Rainforest, a new tribe of indigenous people was discovered. The tribe is called "Metyktire" and is a subgroup of the Kayapo tribe. (The Star) The US Food and Drug Administration warns consumers to discard all toothpaste made in China after discovering diethylene glycol, a poison related to a chemical used in antifreeze. (New York Times) The Ukrainian parliament votes to approve a package of legislation clearing the way for a parliamentary election on 30 September 2007. (BBC) Militants have launched two attacks on the Indian Army in Indian-administered Kashmir resulting in two soldiers being killed and 19 injured. (CNN) Dr. Jack Kevorkian is released from prison after serving 8 years for assisting terminally ill patients with suicide. (Washington Post) The Palestinian Army of Islam militant group posts a video of the BBC's kidnapped Middle East correspondent Alan Johnston on a website. (ITV) 2007 North Lebanon conflict: Fighting resumes at the Nahr el-Bared camp between the Lebanese Army and Fatah al-Islam. (AP via Houston Chronicle) Thousands of South African public sector workers go on strike for a 12% pay rise for the second Friday in a row. (BBC) Fiji lifts the state of emergency which was imposed during the 2006 Fijian coup d'état. (The Australian) A United States Navy destroyer, the USS Chafee, fires on suspected terrorists staying in Puntland in northern Somalia. The three suspects are accused in taking part in the 1998 bombings of the United States embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. (MSNBC)

28 June. In the aftermath of Greece's worst heatwave in a century, at least 11 people were reported dead from heatstroke, approximately 200 wildfires broke out, across the country's electricity grid nearly collapsed due to record breaking demand.

10 June. The 61st Tony Awards, honoring Broadway theatres' best shows, took place at Radio City Music Hall.

10 June. Lewis Hamilton won the Canadian Grand Prix becoming the first driver of mixed racial origin to win a Formula One race.

14 June. The Green Party entered government for the first time in Ireland, with Fianna Fáil and the Progressive Democrats.

14 June. The San Antonio Spurs swept the Cleveland Cavaliers to win the 2007 NBA Finals.

15 June. Bob Barker's last The Price is Right show aired.

17 June. Lewis Hamilton won the US Grand Prix becoming the first black driver to win two Formula One races.

18 June. Three people were injured and one dead in a shooting near Flinders St in Melbourne.

18 June. Nine Charleston, South Carolina firefighters were killed by a roof collapse while battling a furniture store fire.

22 June. For the first time in NHL history, two American players were drafted first and second into the NHL.

22 June. An F5 tornado tore through Elie, Manitoba, no injuries were reported.

24 June. The refurbished Millennium Dome, now called The O2, reopened in London.

24 June. South Lake Tahoe - A wildfire started eventually destroying 254 homes in the area.

25 June. WWE wrestler Chris Benoit, his wife Nancy Benoit, and son Daniel, were found dead as the result of a murder-suicide that took place over the previous weekend.

25 June. Groundbreaking of the Chicago Spire.

25 June. Following the wettest June on record, Sheffield and South Yorkshire were affected by flooding. Much of Sheffield, Doncaster and Rotherham was flooded when the River Don breached its banks.

27 June. Tony Blair resigned as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom; New Labour Party leader Gordon Brown was appointed Prime Minister by Queen Elizabeth II.

28 June. Start of the Manchester International Festival.

29 June. British police defused a bomb in Haymarket, Central London.

30 June. A Jeep Cherokee drove into the entrance of the main terminal of Glasgow International Airport in an apparent terrorist incident, resulting in a petrol-driven fire.

30 June. The FIFA U-20 World Cup 2007 soccer tournament took place in Canada.
