Oct 29. European heads of state signed the Treaty of Rome establishing a European Constitution, subject to approval by member states.

November

Nov 2. George Bush was reelected President of the United States.

Nov 7-13. US Forces assaulted the town of Fallujah Iraq, in an effort to clear the town of insurgents before January elections in Iraq.

Nov 11. Yasser Arafat, leader of the Palestinian Authority died.

Nov 14. Colin Powell resigned as US Secretary of State, to be replaced by Condoleeza Rice.

December

Dec 26. A massive earthquake near Sumatra caused tsunamis that killed nearly 200,000 peple in nations surrounding the Indian Ocean.
