The various peoples of Western Civilization have contributed highly to history and its study. Western civilization seems to have have roots in prehistory. Its written history begins in antiquity among the Balkan peoples, and later the neighboring Latin peoples. In classical and medieval times, Balkan peoples became comparatively less significant, while Latin based culture began to make connections to Germanic, Northeast European, Anglic, and Scandinavian peoples. In modern times, the Balkan peoples remained geographically confined, the Northeast European peoples spread overland across Central Asia, and the Anglic, Latin, and a few of the Germanic and Scandinavian peoples spread overseas to the Americas, established colonies and governments through other parts of Asia, and divided Africa. All these peoples will undoubtedly be important in the future. |

This can be applied to prehistory to only a limited extent. It has influenced the study of antiquity somewhat. It was prominent in classical and medieval history, and vital to the understanding of modern history. Applications to the future are less well known.
Nations including Mauritius, Trinidad and Tobago can be connected. Cities including Berlin, Porto Alegre, Barcelona, Monterrey, Seattle, Melbourne, Brasilia, Recife, Athens, and Montreal can be connected.
Anglic peoples were far less influential than others in prehistory and antiquity, and only formed in classical and medieval times. They have had a prominent role in modern times and should be significant well into the future. Cities include Sydney which was founded in modern times.
The British peoples are the oldest of the Anglic peoples and can be traced into prehistory and antiquity. Their written history begins in classical and medieval times. In modern times they developed a world-spanning empire. The Irish people of Ireland offer archaeological information for prehistory and antiquity. Like those of the United Kingdom, their written history begins in classical and medieval times. In modern times they have been closely connected to the United Kingdom. London was founded in classical and medieval times and became a major city in modern times.
The English, Scottish, and Welsh peoples of the United Kingdom are the principal group. Their earliest roots in prehistory and antiquity can be developed, but these peoples arose from a combination of other peoples in classical and medieval times, and developed further in modern times.
The Anglo-American peoples were colonized in modern times and have become the most important in the last century. Cities include Miami and Phoenix.
There will be a significant focus on the United States and its cities including Boston. Particular regions including the North with cities of New York City, Chicago, Washington, Philadelphia, and Detroit; the South with cities of Dallas, Houston, and Atlanta; and the West with cities of Los Angeles and San Francisco are of some interest.
Canada including the city of Toronto can be connected, chiefly with modern times.
British Caribbean peoples including those of Jamaica were colonized by Anglic peoples in modern times.
The Anglo-Australian peoples of Australia and New Zealand were colonized by Anglic peoples in modern times.
Latin peoples have somewhat obscure prehistoric roots, but began to develop in antiquity. They became important and dominated the classical and medieval period and much of the early moden period. Their development has been outpaced in later modern times by the Anglic peoples, but they are still comparatively important and can be expected to remain so into the future. Particular nations include Panama, which is considered to originate in modern times. Cities include Guadalajara, which was founded in modern times.
There is limited information on Italic peoples in prehistory. The Roman republic began in antiquity and developed into the Roman Empire in classical times. Multiple fragments were present in medieval and early modern Italy, until the modern nation of Italy was established.
There is limited information on the ancestors of the French people in prehistory and French peoples developed from the Roman Empire of antiquity and classical times, and were influenced by the Germanic peoples of classical and medieval times. They have also been important in modern times. They principally include the nation of France with its city of Paris. French Colonial peoples, which have been important in modern times, include Haiti
So far I have limited information on the ancestors of Hispanic peoples from prehistory and most of antiquity. They developed partly from the Roman empire of classical times and were heavily influenced by Islam in medieval times.They have expanded significantly in modern times, with the Spanish conquest of much of the Americas.
These include the people of Uruguay, which has developed in modern times and cities such as Santiago and Caracas which were founded in modern times.

Hispanic Colombian American peoples are a product of modern times. Colombia is modern. Venezuela is modern. Ecuador is modern. Cities of Hispanic Colombian America include Bogota.
Hispanic Peruvian American peoples are a product of modern times. Peru is a modern nation. Chile is a modern nation. Bolivia is a modern nation. Hispanic Peruvian America includes the city of Lima, which is also modern.
Hispanic Argentine American peoples are another product of modern times. Argentina is a modern nation. Paraguay is a modern nation. Cities of Hispanic Argentine America include Buenos Aires, which is also modern.
Lusitanic peoples originated in prehistory and antiquity from obscure roots. Their written history gives developments from classical and medieval times, including Roman and Islamic influences. They developed one of the first modern colonial empires. Portugal has roots in prehistory and antiquity, but developed in classical and medieval times and its empire in modern times. Lusitanic cities include Belo Horizonte, which developed in modern times. Brazil was colonized in modern times, and its cities of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro are also modern.

They became prominent in modern times and should be important into the future. The peoples of Germany appear in the historical record in classical and and medieval times and had a huge influence in Europe. It has remained important through modern times. Austria was also significant in classical and medieval times and through modern times. Countries of the Low Kingdoms including the Netherlands and Belgium were more closely associated with the French through Classical and medieval times, and have developed distinctively in modern times. Switzerland also developed distinctively during classical and medieval times and became important in modern times. Cities include Ruhr, which is actually an urban agglomeration, and which became important in modern times.
Northeast european peoples are also little known in prehistory. They may have originated in antiquity, but their written history begins in classical and medieval times. They became noticeable in modern times, and have come to dominate the peoples of Central Asia. The peoples of Russia appear in the historical record in classical and medieval times and became important in modern times. Moscow is known from classical and medieval and modern times. Peoples of Ukraine may have been present in antiquity, but are better known from classical and medieval times and modern times. Peoples of Moldova are known from classical and medieval and modern times. Peoples of Poland appear in the historical record during classical and medieval times and modern times. Peoples of the Czech Republic are known from classical and medieval times and in modern times. Peoples of Slovakia are known from classical and medieval and into modern times. Peoples of Belarus are known from classical and medieval times and modern times. Peoples of Lithuania and Latvia are closely associated and known from classical and medieval and modern times. Estonia can be connected. St. Petersburg was founded in modern times.
Balkan peoples have the longest known history of any of the peoples of Western Civilization. Their prehistory is little known, but they can be followed from antiquity through classical and medieval times and into modern times. Their future has not yet been closely examined. Serbia is not well known from prehistory or antiquity, but can be considered in classical and medieval and modern times. Hungary is not well known from prehistory or antiquity, Many of its existing peoples moved into the area in classical and medieval times, and the modern history can be considered. Bulgaria was likewise occupied by its current peoples in classical and medieval times, and has been considered in modern history. Bosnia and Herzegovina little information from prehistory or antiquity, but classical and medieval and modern history can be considered. Croatia is not well known from prehistory or antiquity, but classical and medieval and modern times can be considered. Albania is not well known from prehistory or antiquity, but classical and medieval amd modern times can be considered. Kosovo has connections to antiquity, classical and medieval times, and modern history. Macedonia has connections to modern history. Slovenia has connections to modern history.
Romania is little known in prehistory or antiquity, but has been known from classical and medieval through modern times.
Greece has been extensively studied and prehistory is somewhat known, with traces of history dating to antiquity. It is well known from classical and medieval times, but has declined in modern times from its earlier priminence.
Scandinavian peoples are not well known from prehistory or antiquity. The earliest historical records date to classical and medieval times, but they have been significant in modern times, and will probably be significant in the future. Sweden was not prominent in prehistory and antiquity. It appears in classical and medieval history, and was infuential in modern times. Denmark was also not prominent in prehistory or antiquity, but was more significant in classical and medieval and modern times. Finland was not prominent in prehistory or antiquity, but has been noted in classical and medieval and modern times. Norway was not prominent in prehistory or antiquity, but has been more important in classical and medieval and modern times.
