Islam continued to expand, mostly eastward into Central Asia, India, East Asia, and the northern parts of Africa. There, Islamic peoples also came into conflict with the Mongol empire of Northern, central, and Eastern Asia. The American Indian peoples remained unknown and continued their separate development.
