c. 58 - 44 BC Caesar becomes Roman conquerer of Gaul (approx modern France) , victor in civil war, and dictator.

Late mid 1st Century BC (40 BC - 21 BC)

c. 32 BC - 14 CE Augustus rules as first Roman Emperor.

Late 1st Century BC (20 C - 1 BC)
