Science Applied to Antiquity

Biology, earth science, astronomy, chemistry, and physics can be applied to examination of antiquity.

Science

Science can be applied to the 5th millennium BC, 4th millennium BC, 3rd millennium BC, 2nd millennium BC, and early 1st millennium BC.

Biology

Biology can be connected.

Biohistory has some connections, although the Precambrian, Paleozoic, and Mesozoic are not directly useful, Cenozoic life is the more important. Ecology including biogeography, ecosystems, evolution, system ecology, community ecology, population ecology, and behavioral ecology might be applied. Systematics including animals, fungi, plants, protists, and microbes might be connected. Organism biology including behavior, life cycle, form, organ systems, tissues, and habitat might be connected. Cell biology including cell types, cell behavior, and cell anatomy might be applicable. Molecular biology including nucleic acids, proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, small organics, and inorganics can be considered.

Earth science

Geohistory including Precambrain, Paleozoic, and Mesozoic periods might be connected, although the Cenozoic is most useful. Physical geography including terrestrial geography, oceanic geography, and mapping might be connected. Atmospheric science including climatology, meteorology, and atmospheric structure can be connected, Hydrospheric science including oceanography, glaciology, groundwater, and freshwater can be connected. Geology including interior geology, earth processes, landforms, rocks, and minerals can be connected.

Astronomy

Astronomy can be used for dating of some events. Cosmology might be connected. Galactic astronomy might be connected. Stellar astronomy including astrocartography, star systems, stars, and the interstellar medium can be connected. Local astronomy including solar system history, the sun, solar planetary systems, smaller bodies, and the interplanetary mediumcan be connected.

Chemistry

Chemical systems including organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, gas chemistry, liquid chemistry, and soclid chemistry might be connected. Chemical change including nuclear reactions, chemical change, and physical change can be connected. Chemical substances including mixtures, compounds, and elements can be connected.

Physics

Study of the structure of matter including exotic matter, common matter, molecular physics, atomic physics, and subatomic physics had mostly not been developed, but may be applicable. Quantum physics may be applicable but had not developed. Relativity may be applicable but had not yet developed. Electromagnetism including optics, magnetism, electric current, and electrostatics may be applicable. Thermodynamics including advanced thermodynamics, classical thermodynamics, and statistical mechanics may be applicable. Mechanics including gravitation, nonrigid mechanics, rigid body mechanics, and particle mechanics can be connected.
