History of Human Geography

The history of human geography and the exploration and discovery of the world in prehistory, antiquity, and classical and medieval times can be considered. Much of it is modern. The future can also be considered.

History

Prehistory

Early prehistory including the Pliocene, early Pleistocene, early mid Pleistocene, late mid Pleistocene, and late Pleistocene might be connected. Middle prehistory including the 5th decamillennium BP, 4th decamillennium BP, 3rd decamillennium BP, 2nd decamillennium BP can be connected. Late prehistory including the early 8th millennium BP, late 8th millennium BP, early 7th millennium BP, late 7th milennium BP, early 6th millennium BP, and late 6th millennium BP can be connected.

Antiquity

The 5th millennium BC including the early 5th millennium BC, early mid 5th millennium BC, mid 5th millennium BC, late mid 5th millennium BC, and late 5th millennium BC can be connected. The 4th millennium BC including the early 4th millennium BC, early mid 4th millennium BC, mid 4th millennium BC, late mid 4th millennium BC, and late 4th millennium BC can be connected. The 3rd millennium BC including the early 3rd millennium BC, early mid 3rd millennium BC, mid 3rd millennium BC, late mid 3rd millennium BC, and late 3rd millennium BC has developments in the subject. The 2nd millennium BC including the early 2nd millennium BC, early mid 2nd millennium BC, mid 2nd millennium BC, late mid 2nd millennium BC, and late 2nd millennium BC can be connected. The early 1st millennium BC including the 10th century BC, 9th century BC, 8th century BC, 7th century BC, and 5th century BC can be connected.

Classical and medieval history

Early classical times including the 5th century BC, 5th century BC, 3rd century BC, 2nd century BC, and 1st century BC can be followed. Late classical times including the 1st century CE, 2nd century CE, 3rd century CE, 4th century CE, and 5th century CE can be followed. Early medieval times including the 6th century CE, 7th century CE, 8th century CE, 9th century CE, and 10th century CE can be followed. The modern exploration of the world began in late medieval times. I do not yet have many details of the 11th century, 12th century, 13th century, or 14th century. In the 15th century, The voyages of Columbus (1492-1504) that opened up the "New World" of the Americas to the knowledge of the "Old World" of Europe, Asia, and Africa, are key developments in human history.

1497-1499 da Gama reached India by sailing around Africa, initiating the European exploration and exploitation of Asia and Africa.

Modern history

In the modern era, explorers and navigators have explored and described nearly the entire world and its people.

16th century

The 16th century was part of the age of exploration and discovery.I do not yet have details of the early 16th century, early mid 16th century, mid 16th century, late mid 16th century, or late 16th century.

20th century

Exploration was nearly complete, but other analysis of human geography remains to be done. For the early 20th century and the early-mid 20th century I lack details. In the mid-20th century, air transport helped considerably. In the late-mid 20th century, space instrumentation began to influence geography. The early 1960s, late 1960s, early 1970s, and late 1970s can be connected.

Developments of the late 20th century, including use of computers in human geography, remain to be described. The early 1980s, late 1980s, early 1990s, and late 1990s can be considered.

Early 21st century

Development of details in the early 2000s including 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004 can be considered. 2005 including the first quarter 2005, second quarter 2005, third quarter 2005, and fourth quarter 2005 will include recent events.
