North American Geography (Human)


This can be roughly subdivided into Northern North America, Middle North America, and Southern North America. This is a term of some confusion, because in the broad sense, America includes both North and South America. Nevertheless, inhabitants of the United States habitually refer to themselves as "Americans". This section could also be named United States geography, but this is also an awkward name, since I exclude areas that are politically part of the US and include some that are not. This occupies the northern part of North America and is mostly a cold and sparsely inhabited region. It includes most of Canada and Alaska.

Middle North America

This includes most of the United States America and is by far the most populous region

Southern North America

This includes the region presently occupied by Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean Islands.
