Human ecology includes the study of how people interact with the environment and how they change it. |
|
This includes such things as earthqakes and volcanoes, droughts and floods, storms, and influences of climate.
This includes ecological relationships with microbes, protists, plants, fungi, and other animals, including their availability as food, or predation or parasitism on man, sources of disease, and so forth.
This includes the study of things such as mineral extraction, earthmoving, irrigation and drainage, Human-influenced weather and clomate, and the cultivation, transportation, and elimination of species and ecosystems.

Human ecology depends to some extent on the physical and natural sciences. Physics including mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, relativity, quantum mechanics, and the structure of matter seems to be only minimally and indirectly useful. Chemistry including substances, changes, and systems is a little more applicable. |

Astronomy is also useful. Human life is not known to exist away from the earth, since in most places the environment does not support life. Solar system astronomy including the sun, soplar planetary systems, smaller bodies, interplanetary medium, and solar system history can be applied. Stellar astronomy has speculative applications. Galactic astronomy and cosmology and galactic astronomy do not seen highly useful Earth science including hydrospheric science, atmospheric science, physical geography, and geohistory is even more applicable. Geology is moderately useful. Mineralogy and petrology are rather indirectly useful, but landforms and geological processes are more useful. Interior geology is very indirect at best. Hydrospheric science is useful, not so much for oceanography, glaciology, or groundwater, but for fresh water bodies. Biology is even more useful. Molecular biology and cell biology are not useful just yet. Organism biology, and some areas of systematics including microbes, protists, fungi, plants, and animals and ecology are most useful. Biohistory is not the most useful area at present. |

Human ecology depends quite heavily on personal studies. Studies of the human body including body function and body systems, life cycle, disease, appearance are significant. Psychology, including behavioral elements, consciousness, mind, behavior, mental ilness, development, and personality is essential. Biography is also significant. Human ecology is interconnected with the other areas of anthropology, including Social foundations such as social presentation, social interaction, social control, group types, and group behaviorm and demography. There are connections with physical anthropology including human origins, racial variation, and human dispersion. There are also connections to human geography and particular groups. Human ecology is influenced and shaped by all the components of culture, including material and conceptual culture. Behavioral culture including customs, occupations, recreation and entertainment, and cultural events can be connected. InstitutionsFamilies including marriage, parenting, kinship, and particular families may have some connectiont to human ecology. Education including research, teaching, cultural institutions, educational organization, and particular schools will be significant. Economics including economic activities, industries, and economic systems is closely connected. Government including law, government structure, government activity, and particular governments may be connected. Religion including religious belief and religious practice may also influence human ecology. Religious organization including unstructured, fragmented, and highly structured religions may be useful. Particular religions including Abrahamic religion, Asiatic religion, pagan religion, and secular tradition may be helpful. SociologySocial structure and change including social structure will be connected. Social types including hunting and gathering societies, horticultural societies, agrarnian societies, and industrial societies can be connected and are highly important. Social change including social chage factors, social change processes, and particular changes will be useful. Communities including Tokyo, Seoul, Mexico City, and New York City can be connected as the site develops. Peoples of the world will be useful. Particular nations including Vietnam, Germany, Egypt, and Ethiopia will be influential. Western Civilization including Mexico, will be useful. Anglic peoples including those of the United States can be considered. Latin peoples including Brazil will be useful. Northeast European peoples including those of Russia can be considered. Asiatic peoples including those of the Philippines can be considered. South Asian peoples including those of India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh can be considered. Oriental peoples including those of China and Japan can be considered. Southeast Asia including Indonesia will be useful. African peoples including those of Nigeria can be considered. American Indian peoples including some of those in Mexico may also be useful to human ecology. South American Indian peoples such as those found in Brazil can be considered. North American Indian peoples such as are found in the United States can be considered. HistoryHistory is not very useful in prehistory, antiquity, or classical and medieval times including early classical, late classical, early medieval, or late medieval times though these may provide illustrations. The subject has developed in modern times, including the 16th century and 17th century. The 18th century including the early 18th century, early mid 18th century, mid 18th century, late mid 18th century, and late 18th century will be useful. The 19th century, including the early 19th century, early mid 19th century, mid 19th century, late-mid 19th century, and late 19th century can be connected. The current focus is on the 20th century including the early 20th century, early-mid 20th century, mid 20th century, and late-mid 20th century. Developments of the late 20th century including the early 1980s, late 1980s, early 1990s, and late 1990s do not yet have much detail. The early 21st century including the early 2000s has recent events. The late 2000s including 2006, 2007, and 2008 with the first quarter, second quarter with April, May, and June, and third quarter with July, August, and September have current events. The fourth quarter including October and November can be considered. The future including the near future with next month, next quarter, and next year, the middle future, and far future is unclear. |
