The Wright brothers lived and worked in the modern period of history.

Wilbur and Orville were both born in the 19th century, specifically in the late-mid 19th century. They operated a bicycle shop and studied various attempts at human flight in the late 19th century, including the early 1880s, late 1880s, early 1890s, and late 1890s.

20th century

In the early 20th century they invented the first workable airplane. The early 1900s and late 1900s can be connected. In the early 1910s, Wilbur was died (1912) in an airplane crash. The late 1910s can be connected. Orville continued to work in the early mid 20th century including the early 1920s, late 1920s, early 1930s, and late 1930s.

The mid 20th century including the early 1940s and late 1940s can be connected. Orville Wright died in 1948.
