There are some connections to science, not so much on physics or chemistry, but a little on astronomy, and more on earth science and biology. This also depends to some extent on personal studies, not a great deal on the human body or psychology, but most particularly on biography.

This is connected to other areas of anthropology including social foundations, demography, and physical anthropology. Human ecology including effects of the environment, relations with other life, and effects of people on the environment is significant. This is fairly closely connected to and not always clearly distinguished from European geography. It is also connected to Oceanic geography and African geoaphy. It is separated from North American geography and South American geography by the Pacific ocean. There may also be connections with particular groups.

It is also connected to culture, including material culture, conceptual culture, and behavioral culture. Institutions including families, education, and economics will also be important. Government including law, government structure, government practice, and particular governments can be connected. Religion with religious beliefs, practice, organization, and particular religions will be significant.

Sociology

Social structure and change including social structure, social types, and social change may be useful to studies of Asian geography. Communities including Tokyo, Seoul, Mexico City, and New York City can be connected. Peoples will help considerably. Particular nations such as Indonesia, Brazil, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Russia will be helpful. Asiatic peoples including those of India may have been important in studying their own geography. Oriental peoples including those of China are closely connected. Middle Eastern peoples have had influence throughout Asia and described much of it. North African peoples may have described it a little. Peoples of Western civilization, including Anglic peoples such as the United States have explored Asian geography, but knowledge is not particularly widespread.

History

The history of Asian geography is not as well known as that of other areas. There were some explorations in classical and medieval times. Its modern history is best developed, and includes studies from the 16th century, 17th century, and 18th century. In the 19th century, previously largely unfamiliar areas were explored. In the 20th century, its exploration has been hindered somewhat by political concerns. These difficulties seem to have been greatest in the mid 20th century. They began to ease somewhat in the late-mid 20th century. Developments from the late 20th century and early 21st century, and particularly the early 2000s and late 2000s can be followed.
